Rapper Meek Mill is planning to sue a Las Vegas hotel, The Cosmopolitan, for discrimination and being barred from entering the swimming pool area this past weekend.

Meek believes the hotel was blatantly racist towards him due to being black. Joe Tacopina, Meek’s lawyer, is said to be filing a lawsuit this week. The Cosmopolitan also issued a statement that the act of banning the rapper was due to safety, and not racism.

On Monday, TMZ reported that the hotel denied Meek, who had appeared to support his friend DJ Mustard, entrance its Marquee Dayclub pool because it had “reached capacity per Las Vegas Fire Marshall code”. But there would be more to come because after Meek tried to grab something to eat within the premises, the rapper was denied again altogether.

On Monday, after the hotel had issued the statement regarding the incident with Meek, the rapper took to Twitter to vent. “The cosmopolitan issued a statement that it was over capacity at a pool party why I was banned but told me I would be arrested just for stepping on their property even if I went to eat on the property ‘not at the pool party’ doesn’t even make sense,” the rapper wrote. “The cosmopolitan issued a statement that it was over capacity at a pool party why I was banned but told me I would be arrested just for stepping on their property even if I went to eat on the property ‘not at the pool party’ doesn’t even make sense.”

On Tuesday, fellow rapper Yo Gotti also backed up Meek’s claims, saying he has also been subjected to racism at the hands of the very same hotel. It seems Meek’s case was not an isolated incident, and only time will tell if any further developments are to come. One thing is for sure, however, and that is that rapper Meek Mill will surely not let this incident die down, as he has proven to be an advocate against racial prejudice.
