Mahatma Gandhi said it best when he said: “Be the change you wish to see in this world”! We live such fast-paced lives where time flies by and so does our existence. Stress seems to lurk around every corner. Sometimes we have to Just Be Chill!! 

It may seem to be easier said than done but it is possible. I was diagnosed with severe anxiety at a young age so trust me when I tell you that making small changes can lead to big results. I know the same things may not work for everybody but here are a few things to try.

Just Be Chill 101

  1. Eliminate The Unnecessary: This step relates to anything and everything that isn’t necessary. Material objects, clutter, stress, basically anything you don’t want or need. Unfortunately, this sometimes includes some people as well. Once you start clearing away anything that no longer serves a purpose things start to slowly mellow out.
  2. Take Me Time: It’s easy to get so caught up in the hustle and bustle in life that we forget to take time for ourselves. Sometimes we may even feel as though there isn’t enough time in the day to do so. The truth is we have to set aside and make time. Find whatever it is that helps you relax and take some time to enjoy it.
  3. Atmosphere: Sometimes we have to make atmospheric changes in order to add some chill! Little things like sight, scent, sound, and texture can make a big difference. Turn off the artificial lighting when it’s not necessary and light some candles. Aromatherapy is very helpful for calming the nerves. Different scents such as lavender, vanilla, and chamomile all have a calming effect. Each individual is different so you’ll just have to find what works for you.
  4. Let It Go: There will always be things that are out of our control. This was a hard one for me! With patience and practice, I eventually came to terms with the fact that I had to accept the things I could not change. Sometimes we have to just let it go because in all actuality it is what it is!
  5. Just Breathe: There are deep breathing exercises that can help you relax! You can use these techniques anywhere at any time. Slow deep breathes can really help bring on the chill!
  6. Slow Down: Everything in life doesn’t have to be so fast. We rush to work, rush to bed, rush through meals. We drive fast cars and eat fast food. Allow yourself more time to just be!
  7. Yoga & Meditation: Adding yoga and meditation into my life has done so much for me. They are both amazing practices that have been around for centuries.

Stress is one of the leading causes of disease. Eliminating unnecessary stress can have a positive impact on your general well-being. We have to take things one day at a time because what else is there to do? I hope this article finds you well and in a good way. Just Be Chill!
